Wynn Boston Harbour CasinoThe new Wynn Boston Harbour Casino is set to open during June 2019 at a projected cost of $2.1 billion dollars. This sweet Wynn deal involves payments of $30 million dollars to the City of Boston over the next 15 years.

Following approval of a resort gaming licence this week by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, construction work has already started. It will take 5 months to move contaminated soil from the site at a cost of 30 million dollars. The site, on the Mystic river has been home to many chemical companies rolling back to the 1860’s.

Work has already begun on constructing the basement of the car park. Over the next two years a 24 storey bronze coloured glass hotel tower will emerge from the once contaminated land. It will be a prominent new landmark close to Route 93 running through the heart of Boston. When complete the Wynn Boston Harbour Casino will measure up at 3.3 million square feet including the hotel complex.

Following Tuesdays action, if the bill is enacted, regulators can develop plans for final legislation to be passed. This is a major step towards legalising gambling in Japan.

Politically the new gambling bill is controversial. Although Minister Abe representing the Liberal Democratic Party, has been promoting legalised gambling there is a divided coalition government. The Komeito, the main coalition partner are against legalizing gambling because they say it may cause gambling addiction and other social problems in Japan.
