It is reported that this William Hill sponsorship deal with ITV will allow them to be the named sponsor of horse racing broadcasting for a new four year contract.
William Hill Sponsorship Deal from 1st January 2017
Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has sponsored ITV’s horse racing broadcasting sponsor for the past 10 years. Sheik Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum heads up Dubai, he is a prominent figure in international horse racing. Dubai decided to withdraw making way for another sponsor.
During that time period Channel 4 have been the broadcaster of horse racing. Now it is to be taken over by ITV. This sponsorship deal came as a result of the change of broadcaster opening up a new partnership opportunity. Another strong contender for the new sponsorship deal was Sky Sports.
The new ITV free to air broadcasting will be presented by a brand new team, including Ed Chamberlin as the main host.
The new William Hill deal with ITV is worth 10 million over four years. It includes naming rights for the terrestrial coverage. The broadcasting will be split between ITV3 and ITV4. The most popular horse racing events like Champions Day, Derby Day and Royal Ascot are to be included.

William Hill is a major sports sponsorship investor. In August they struck a major deal with Chelsea, Premier League Football Club. The deal allowed William Hill to run a match day betting service, allowing fans to place bets at Stamford Bridge. It also means William Hill can feature in pitch side banner advertising and across Chelsea Football Club digital platforms. William Hill are now the official betting partner of Chelsea Football Club.
William Hill are UK’s largest bookmaker with 2,371 licensed betting shops across the country. They accept bets on a wide range of sporting and other events over-the-counter or through self-service betting terminals. They also have a large presence as an online casino with sports betting options.
William Hill was involved in a possible merger with Amaya, the Canadian online gambling company. It did no go ahead in the end due to major shareholder objections.
This latest William Hill sponsorship deal strengthens their status in the gambling industry. Their next financial results are due on 14th November.
