Las Vegas casino donations to shooting victims have been very surprising but very welcome for the victims of the horrific attack on 2nd October.
MGM Resorts lead the way by donating $3 million to victims and first responders. They are also providing lodging, transportation, food and grief counselling to the victims and their families. MGM Resorts own and operate the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
A spokesman for MGM Resorts expressed grief and outrage over the senseless on Las Vegas community. He said that he hoped the donation would make a difference to those here were harmed of left behind.
The Las Vegas Sands has also established a $4 million relief fund. It consists of $2 million from Sands Care and $2 million from the Adelson Family Foundation. Caesars Entertainment together with its workers and entertainers said they would commit $2 million in relief aid. They also pledged to fund an event to honour the victims of the massacre.
The attack has impacted seriously on Las Vegas with understandable outrage being expressed across the strip.
All the hotels dimmed their lights on Sunday night for 11 minutes between 10.05 to 10.16 pm, the duration of the shooting.
The shooting was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival and was the deadliest reported in US history.
The FBI have made an appeal to the public to understand the motive of this terrible killing. At the moment the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
